With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 7 fantasy football kicker rankings.
1. Matt Prater, Denver Broncos
Matt Prater leads the NFL in scoring with 61 points on nine field goals and 34 extra points. The Denver Broncos are scoring at will, and that should continue against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have allowed 11 field goals and nine extra points.
2. Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots
Stephen Gostkowski is second in the league in scoring with 59 points on 16 field goals and 11 extra points. He should be very active against the New York Jets. The Jets have allowed 12 field goals and 13 extra points.
3. Nick Novak, San Diego Chargers
Nick Novak has 54 points on 13 field goals and 15 extra points. He should be productive against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags have allowed 10 field goals and 24 extra points.
4. Steven Hauschka, Seattle Seahawks
Steven Hauschka is fourth in the league in scoring with 57 points on 14 field goals and 15 extra points. He should see plenty of opportunities against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards have allowed 11 field goals and 12 extra points.
5. Alex Henery, Philadelphia Eagles
Alex Henery has 56 points on 13 field goals and 17 extra points. I'm expecting a high-scoring affair against the Dallas Cowboys. The Boys have allowed 11 field goals and 17 extra points.
6. Ryan Succop, Kansas City Chiefs
Ryan Succop has 50 points on 11 field goals and 17 extra points. He's facing the Houston Texans. The Texans have allowed 10 field goals and 21 extra points.
7. Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers
Mason Crosby has 53 points on 13 field goals and 14 extra points. The Green Bay Packers take on the Cleveland Browns this week. The Browns have allowed nine field goals and 14 extra points.
8. Dan Bailey, Dallas Cowboys
Dan Bailey has 49 points on 10 field goals and 19 extra points. He should be busy against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have allowed 11 field goals and 20 extra points.
9. Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens
Justin Tucker has 50 points on 12 field goals and 14 extra points. The Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game will likely be an ugly one that could lead to multiple field-goal opportunities. The Steelers have allowed 11 field goals and 11 extra points.
10. David Akers, Detroit Lions
David Akers has 48 points on 10 field goals and 18 extra points. He's a solid play against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have allowed nine field goals and 12 extra points.

Why You Should Give A Hoot: With a primetime TV audience in attendance, Miami and North Carolina get an opportunity to show just how hot—or not— respectively, each has been so far in 2013.
The ‘Canes have been one of the ACC’s pleasant surprises, steadily climbing in the polls with first-half wins over Florida and Georgia Tech. But head coach Al Golden has successfully kept his players grounded, telling everyone that’ll listen that his program still has a very long way to before reaching its goals this season. Carolina was the ACC’s single biggest disappointment of the first half, slogging to three straight losses, including a blowout at the hands of East Carolina in Chapel Hill. In a year pegged in the preseason as a potential coming-out party for second-year head coach Larry Fedora, the Heels are now in grave danger of missing the postseason entirely.
Why Miami Might Win: The ‘Canes have gotten almost two weeks to prepare for a Carolina defense in complete disarray. In stark contrast to Miami these days, the Tar Heels are struggling in every phase of the D, tackling poorly and failing to pressure the pocket or create turnovers. The balanced Hurricanes will gash its host with the running of Duke Johnson and the passing of Stephen Morris to a deep and athletic corps of receivers headed by Allen Hurns. Morris will be well-protected by RG Brandon Linder and an O-line that’s yielded four sacks all season.
Why North Carolina Might Win: Yeah, it’s not visible in the team numbers yet, but the Heels do have an abundance of talent on offense. Bryn Renner is still one of the league’s most accurate passers, WR Quinshad Davis is a big-time playmaker and Eric Ebron could be the first tight end chosen in next April’s NFL Draft. There are bad offenses and offenses playing badly. Carolina is the latter, yet it clearly has the right mix of weapons to reverse the rotten start by pressing the Miami D with Fedora’s up-tempo attack.
Who To Watch Out For: Chapel Hill will stage a quarterback duel that’ll capture the interest of NFL scouts … maybe. Neither Morris nor Renner is 100% healthy, with both players dealing with nagging ankle injuries. Just in case, it’d be wise to brush up on the backups, ‘Cane Ryan Williams and Tar Heel Marquise Williams.
- Mark D’Onofrio’s defense is the biggest reason why Miami is more nationally relevant than a year ago. With LB Denzel Perryman and CB Ladarius Gunter serving as leaders and catalysts, the Hurricanes have been outstanding at making big plays in the form of sacks and takeaways. Carolina, though, has more raw talent on offense than anyone Miami has faced this fall.
- Rookie Miami WR Stacy Coley is quickly getting comfortable in the offense, and Morris has noticed. The pair has connected seven times for 170 yards and two touchdowns over the last two games. As Coley’s confidence grows, the Hurricanes will have one more long-ball threat to go along with Hurns, Phillip Dorsett and Rashawn Scott, who’s hoping to return from a shoulder injury suffered in the opener.
What Will Happen: Thursday night road games can be dicey for visitors, and the Heels absolutely have enough veteran talent to unexpectedly pick off a ranked team. However, the gap between Miami and North Carolina is a little too wide for the upset to be in play this week. While the health of both quarterbacks needs to be monitored, the ‘Canes should get out of Kenan Stadium with their perfect record intact provided Morris is available. The Heels will keep skidding as long as their D is performing like a sieve.
